Revelation 6:12-17

In Revelation 6:12-17 is the opening of the sixth seal from the scroll that the Lamb has taken from the right hand of Him who sits on the throne of heaven. With the opening of the sixth seal, the atmosphere is shaken as John states in Revelation 6:12b-14 (NKJV), “and behold, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became like blood. 13And the stars of heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree drops its late figs when it is shaken by a mighty wind. 14Then the sky receded as a scroll when it is rolled up, and every mountain and island was moved out of its place.” As the sky rolls up as a broken scroll, the heavens are opened for the coming of the Lord. Every man; rich or poor, slave or free, will hide themselves in terror of facing the wrath of God, and will cry out for death instead of facing such a great terror. The Apostle John declares in Revelation 6:17, “17For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?” The amount of time between the opening of the fifth seal of the martyrs crying out for God to avenge their blood and judge the earth and this cosmic disturbance is unknown, but it does seem as if this is the answer to the martyrs’ cry.

This is the opening of the sixth seal from the scroll that the Lamb has taken from the right hand of Him who sits on the throne of heaven.

Jesus teaches us in Matthew 24:36-39, “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” The earth and the ways of man will be so preoccupied with themselves and their busy schedules that they will have no time remaining nor care to recognize God nor His love for them – a very similar setting as to that of which we live in today. God is calling to your heart – to let Him in and save you from sin. Open it today and profess Him your Savior and believe that God has raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved (Romans 10:9-10).

Dear LORD,

As the seals of the scroll from Your right hand are opened and Your wrath comes to this earth, please give us realization and understanding for the importance of opening our hearts to Jesus, our Savior – the Savior of the world, that we would be saved from this great wrath to come. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
