Revelation 5:1

In Revelation 4 we were introduced to the throne of God in His majesty, splendor, and power. In Revelation 5:1 we are introduced to the scroll that is in the right hand of God as He sits on His throne, with a new view of His throne as the judgement seat of God. The scroll has writing all over, inside and outside, representing its completeness, and it is sealed with seven seals that will be opened one by one as the judgement of God is released on the earth.

This is a promise of the judgement of the earth that God holds in His right hand.

We are all curious about the events of the future. The Bible teaches us about these events and of the order in which they will take place. Jesus declared in John 14:2-4 (NKJV), “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” Thomas replied to this by saying, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” Jesus replies in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Dear LORD,

We are about to be introduced to the Lamb of God who is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom, and strength and honor and glory and blessing (Revelation 5:12). He is the only One found worthy to open the scroll and release that in which it contains. Please give us wisdom, insight, knowledge, and understanding of these events so that we may properly prepare our hearts for them – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
