Revelation 3:14-22

In Revelation 3:14-22 is the letter written to the angel of the church of Laodicea. This letter is noted as being from, “the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God” (Revelation 3:14b, NKJV). Laodicea was possibly the wealthiest city in the region during its time, but because of their wealth, they became self-centered and felt in need of nothing; they were blind to their need for salvation in Jesus Christ. Jesus declares in Revelation 3:19-22 in reference to His first declaration of His earthly ministry (Matthew 4:17; Mark 1:15), “19As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

22He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”

This is an awakening for those who are self-centered and blind to their need for salvation and forgiveness in Christ Jesus.

The call of Jesus to us all is as He offers in Revelation 3:20, “. 20Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” This is an offer to open the door of your heart to Jesus and let Him into your life. Do so, and the reward is to sit with Him on the throne of heaven for eternity.

Dear LORD,

We all believe/or at least desire to be self-sufficient as is our desire to be successful in life. Please help us to realize and understand that without Jesus in our hearts our desires are but temporary, but with Jesus and seeking Your will for our lives, will lead to eternal life – in Christ for eternity.  Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
