Revelation 1:5e-6

In Revelation 1:5e-6 we learn that not only is this Revelation of Jesus Christ written about Him/by Him through His angel to His servant John (Revelation 1:1), but it is written with praise given to Him as Revelation 1:5e-6 (NKJV) states, “5eTo Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, 6and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Romans 5:8 states, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” The Bible teaches us in Leviticus 17:11, For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.” And in Matthew 26:28 Jesus declares, “For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.” In reflection of being made “kings and priests to His God and Father” (Revelation 1:6), we learn in 1 Peter 2:9-10, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” This line of accolades ends with, “to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” (Revelation 1:6b).

This is a promise of what Jesus has accomplished for humanity during His earthly ministry.

Almighty God has sent Jesus into this world as a part of Himself to do for us what we are unable to do for ourselves: to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17). He is now worthy of all praise and glory and honor and thanksgiving from us for this miracle of forgiveness and freedom from the bondage of sin. The Revelation of Jesus Christ was/is being revealed to the praise of our Savior Jesus for setting us free from sin and defeating sin, death, and the devil once for all (Romans 6:10-11).

Dear LORD,

Thank You for teaching us that the Revelation of Jesus Christ is not only about what He will do, but for giving Him praise for what He has done for us in saving the world from sin, death, and the devil, that we may have life in Him (1 John 5:11-13). In Jesus name I pray, amen.
