Mark 16:20
Jesus has given His last instructions from His physical earthly body (and now in His risen new body) to go and preach the gospel (good news of the kingdom of heaven) throughout the whole world, and then He ascended to heaven (Mark 16:14-19). Jesus has completed His mission in coming to this world – to save that which was lost – to save humanity from the grasp of living in sin and the results of it being death eternal. So what now is left for us? Mark 16:20 (NKJV) declares, “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.” It now is our duty as Christians to share the good news of the kingdom of heaven with the world. That may seem like a daunting task, but if we all share what God has done in our lives through salvation in Christ Jesus with those around us – in our circle of life – then the world will be reached – in Christ!
This is the action that needs to be taken by all of us in fulfilling the great commission to share the gospel/good news of the kingdom of heaven to the world!
Jesus defeated death eternal and now, through Him, is life eternal. But it is not automatic for everyone to receive – it must be received; do you; have you received it – life eternal? Do you believe in Jesus – that He died for you – for your sins so that you don’t have to? The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23b). The requirement to receive it and the forgiveness and peace in your heart that comes with it is only possible by believing that Jesus has made this possible for you and professing Him your Lord and Savior and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead in victory over sin, death, and the devil. In the words of Jesus in John 19:30 as He completed these things for you and for me…It is finished!
Dear LORD,
As we complete this study in the Gospel of Mark, please help us to remember the words of Jesus as His last instructions before ascending to heaven, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16). Please help us to realize and understand that as You offer us the gift of life, in Your great love for us unto completion, we must make the choice for ourselves to continue living in the devil’s grasp on our lives, or to make the choice to believe that Jesus died to free us from the devil’s grasp and begin living a new life – in Christ. I pray that it is a life redeemed new, opening the door – tearing the veil of our hearts from top to bottom, and living life eternal – in Christ! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
