Mark 16:19
In Mark 16:19 the Bible teaches us that after Jesus had given instruction to His disciples to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15, NKJV) He ascended/was received “up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19).
This is the promise that Jesus ascended into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
Why do we hear that Jesus ascended to heaven and is sitting at the right hand of God? Because the Bible teaches us this in Mark 16:19. This is because as Jesus rose from the dead defeating sin, death, and the devil once for all (Romans 6:10), He cannot die physically again – He defeated death in His sinless death as death is the penalty for sin (Romans 6:23a). But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus (Romans 6:23b). Jesus ascended in His new resurrected body to the right hand of God where He mediates for us through His Holy Spirit to give us the gift of life – in Christ. Put your faith in Jesus and open your heart to Him; put Jesus first in your life and believe that He is your risen Savior, and do as the Apostle Paul instructs us in Romans 6:11, “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Dear LORD,
Thank You for the victory we have over sin through salvation in our risen Savior Jesus. Please lead us all to Him as we open our hearts to receive the gift that You have for us – in Christ! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
