Mark 15:42-47

In Mark 15:42-47 we learn that God had a plan even after the death of Jesus to have a proper burial. Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent man who was, “waiting for the kingdom of God” (Mark 15:43, NKJV) came to Pilate to ask for the body of Jesus, and once approved he wrapped the body of Jesus in fine linen and laid Him in a tomb (Mark 15:44-46). A side note is also attached to this passage: The Bible teaches us in Mark 15:47, “47And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses observed where He was laid.” This would be important for these women to know as they would return to the tomb of Jesus on the first day of the week.

This is a promise that God has a plan to take care of those who are His.

We will all die one day, and God has a plan to take care of everyone who believes in Him as He did for His One and only Son Jesus. Jesus declares in John 14:1-4, “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” But with this good news, some of you may feel as did Thomas in John 14:5 as he pleaded with Jesus that he did not know where Jesus was going nor did he know the way. Jesus replied to Thomas and His disciples, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6).

Dear LORD,

We desire to be with Jesus and dwell in the mansions of heaven, but we also desire while we are here on earth that You utilize us to share the good news of the kingdom of heaven with all the world so that not only we, but that many others too would find the way, the truth, and the life that Jesus has waiting for all who will put their faith in Him. Please let it be so LORD. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
