Mark 14:17-21

In Mark 14:17 (NKJV) Jesus says to those who were with Him eating the Passover, “Assuredly, I say to you, one of you who eats with Me will betray Me.” This was a remarkable statement to those who had left everything to follow Him and to learn from Him. They began to ask Him, “Is it I?” (Mark 14:19) as an attitude of sorrow came over them all. Then Jesus said, “It is one of the twelve, who dips with Me in the dish. 21The Son of Man indeed goes just as it is written of Him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would have been good for that man if he had never been born” (Mark 14:20-21).

This is a promise that those who betray Jesus will receive condemnation.

Jesus states in John 3:18-19, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” After Jesus had been crucified and then raised from the dead showing that death cannot hold Him because He had no sin yet died to sin for humanity, the Apostle Paul states in Romans 5:8-11, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” We all have sinned against God, but God’s own love for us redeems us through His One and only Son, Jesus. Believe in Him and be saved from the condemnation of sin. He will change your life if you will put your faith in Him and follow as His Holy Spirit leads you.

Dear LORD,

None of us are perfect and deserving of Your love, but yet in our sins You show us Your love for us in sending Your One and only Son to pay our price to sin so that we may live through Him. Please open our eyes, minds, and hearts to receive Your forgiveness – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
