Mark 13:9-13

In Mark 13:9-13 Jesus informs His disciples (Peter, James, John, and Andrew) that some undesirable things will happen to them for His sake. He tells them that when they are put on trial, they should not prepare speeches in their defense, but be faithful to Him as the words they need to speak will be given to them at that time. He also tells them that the times will grow hateful to one another as brother will betray brother, and children will betray their parents. Jesus states in Mark 9:13 (NKJV), “13And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”

This is a promise that the world will grow more away from God before He returns.

All these things are taking place somewhere in the world today, and we know that the disciples all endured treacherous deaths because of their dedication to Jesus. We too must hold true to Jesus amidst all the persecution that the world may throw at us because of our belief in Jesus. The Apostle Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown.

Dear LORD,

Please give us strength in this world as we strive to follow Your will for our lives in the midst of the trials, tribulations, and persecutions that this world throws at us as we profess our faith in our Savior Jesus – the Savior of the world! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
