Mark 5:21-24

In Mark 5:21-24 as Jesus crosses back over the sea to the other side, presumably to where He had been before, “a great multitude gathered to Him” (Mark 5:21, NKJV).  A ruler of the synagogue came to Jesus named Jairus (Mark 5:22) with a plea for his deathly sick daughter, that Jesus would come to her and heal her (Mark 5:23).  In Mark 5:24 we learn that Jesus went with him; He did not question Jairus of the details of his daughter’s sickness, or of the need to stay with the multitude that had gathered (as they too would surely have had requests for Jesus as well), but Jesus went with this man who was in need.  Jesus came to heal.  When John the Baptist sent his disciples to Jesus to question if He was the Messiah, Jesus replied, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.  And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me” (Luke 7:22-23).

This is a promise that Jesus came to heal all that will come to Him and ask.

A key thing that we see in the healing that Jesus performed was that these people came to Him and asked Him to heal them, or on behalf of a loved one such as is the case of Jairus coming to Jesus on behalf of his daughter.  They all believed in the healing power of Jesus.  And Jesus healed them all.  Bring your needs for healing to Jesus today as He does all that is in God’s will and though God allows us to suffer for a while, He will perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you (1 Peter 5:10).

Dear LORD,

We all need healing in some way, shape, or form.  Whether it be physical, spiritual, emotional, or any other type of healing we may feel in need of, You are the ultimate Healer.  But please help us to know that we must come to You and ask while believing in Your great healing power.  Please let it be so LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
