Mark 1:36-37

In Mark 1:36 we find a biblical truth that hits everyone, everywhere, and always has; Everyone is looking for Jesus.  As Jesus had removed Himself to a solitary place to pray (Mark 1:35), the others have now awoken from their nights sleep and are searching for Him.  When they found Him, they exclaimed the words that ring true for all humanity, “Everyone is looking for You” (Mark 1:37, NKJV).

This is a promise and example that everyone, everywhere is searching for Jesus.

In our hearts is a longing to be filled.  We all have it and in denial of this fact is simply denying the fact that deep down in our hearts, we are all searching for something.  We may not know what we are searching for, but we are searching for it.  We are searching for something to satisfy us – our wants, needs, desires of the heart.  We search for it in drugs, alcohol, sex, power, academics, and many other things and ways.  But the only thing that will satisfy the longing of our hearts is Jesus – the filling of God’s Holy Spirit living within us.  God has given us all a desire to search Him, but He could not simply put within us a desire to search for Him as that would make us all robots and deny free will, which is the requirement for response to love.  Love can be freely given by anyone, but it cannot be forced to be received by anyone – it must be freely accepted by the receiver.  Love can also be denied by the receiver – it is a choice of free will.  Why this example of Love?  Because the Bible teaches us in 1 John 4:8, 16 that God is Love.  He offers us the greatest gift of all in offering Himself to us as our Creator to complete us and fulfill the longing of our hearts.  God made a place for Himself in our lives – in our hearts – to complete us and fulfill us.  It is the circle of Love that can only be completed and fulfilled in each of our lives…if we accept it.  Will you accept God’s love for you today and open your heart to Him?  God is love, and He longs to share His true love with you.  Open your heart to Jesus today and profess Him your Savior, and receive the gift of life – in Christ!

Dear LORD,

We are all looking for You.  We are all lost and trying to find the answers to all of life’s questions.  Dear LORD, please help us to see that You offer us the answers if we will accept the gift that You offer us in Christ Jesus.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
