2 Corinthians 7:13-16

As the Apostle Paul has spoken of rejoicing in the results of the godly sorrows which lead to repentance, and then to salvation in Christ Jesus for the congregation of the church at Corinth, he now gives examples of that joy and comforting.  He declares in 2 Corinthians 7:13 (NKJV), “Therefore we have been comforted in your comfort.  And we rejoiced exceedingly more for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.”  As the congregation of the church at Corinth is growing in their relationship with the LORD, Paul’s confidence in them is also growing and his rejoicing for them is a result of their dedication and obedience to God through their salvation in Christ Jesus.  In 2 Corinthians 7:16 Paul declares, “Therefore I rejoice that I have confidence in you in everything.”

This is an example of the resulting joy and confidence we find in the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

To open our hearts to Jesus is a call for celebration, and as we grow in our relationship with God through our salvation in Christ Jesus, we grow in confidence and support of one another – we rejoice more and more as God reveals His great plan for our lives.  We are continually surprised by the blessings that God gives us for our continued obedience to Him for seeking His will for our lives as His joy fills our hearts, minds, and souls – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

We do not always experience happy times in this world as we live in a world that, as the Apostle Paul has explained, is full of trials and tribulations, sufferings and heartaches, good and bad.  But Your joy that fills our hearts is experienced regardless of the situation, and this calls for celebration for the salvation You have given us in Christ Jesus.  We pray today that everyone, everywhere may experience this joy and confidence that only You can give – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
