2 Corinthians 7:5-7

The road of the Apostle Paul’s ministry was a hard one, with trials and tribulations around every corner.  And as he informs the congregation of the church at Corinth, their comfort made a big difference in his life and of the joys he gained because of them.  And in his joy because of the Corinthians and of seeing his brother in Christ, Titus, he gives joy to them through his words of thanksgiving in 2 Corinthians 7:7 stating, “and not only by his coming, but also by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us of your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more.”

This is a promise that there is joy to be found through the comfort and support we give to one another during trying times.

In 1 Peter 5:6, 10-11 the Bible teaches us, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you…But may the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you.  To Him be the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.”  We will all experience troublesome times; we live in a sinful world where things are not perfect.  But in this troublesome world we have a God who cares for us and will comfort us and one day…take us to a place where suffering will be no more as we enter into heaven by His grace and mercy to us…if we will put our faith in Him.

Dear LORD,

No one likes to experience sufferings and loss, trials and tribulations, or pain and heartache.  But You have given us each other in this world to comfort each other and share the troublesome times that we would lift each other up and be filled with joy through Your Holy Spirit.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
