1 Corinthians 15:50-57

In 1 Corinthians 15:50-57 the Apostle Paul explains as he states in 1 Corinthians 15:50 (NKJV), “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; nor does corruption inherit incorruption.”  He is saying that our physical bodies cannot exist in heaven – there must be a different body that is acceptable in heaven – in heaven’s purity must also be an inhabitant body that is also pure.  Our physical bodies have been corrupted by sin and are deteriorating because of sin.  But as Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15:52b-54, “For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.  53For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.  54So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory” [Isaiah 25:8].

Paul also explains something else that is very important to realize and understand: “56The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law” (1 Corinthians 15:56).  Now, we might think, “How can the law be the strength of sin?”  The answer is that without the Law, no one would realize sin; for the Law explains to us what sin is, and it is the understanding of sin that makes it valid.  God has explained this to us in the Law so no one has an excuse against being accused of sin.  But Paul also gives us the answer to the victory over sin: “57But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).  The Bible reinforces this in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Jesus is a gift from God; choose Jesus today and live.
