1 Corinthians 15:46-49
In 1 Corinthians 15:46-49 the Apostle Paul explains the order of the earthly body, being first, as was the earthly body made for the first man, Adam, from the earth/dust (Genesis 2:7). The second body will be a heavenly body as was Jesus; a spiritual body. Paul declares in 1 Corinthians 15:49 (NKJV), “And as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly Man.”
This is a promise of the earthly body being first, and then the heavenly/spiritual body being second.
As Jesus taught Nicodemus in John 3:5-8, “Most assuredly I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” We learn in 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, “Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” The Bible teaches us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
Dear LORD,
Thank You that You seal us in Christ Jesus for all who will believe in Him; that You save us from eternal wrath through Christ Jesus and prepare us for our new spiritual bodies at the resurrection of the dead, that we will truly be – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
