1 Corinthians 3:9-11

In Acts 9 we learn of Saul’s conversion, who would be renamed Paul.  This is the same Paul, the Apostle, who wrote this letter to the church at Corinth.  He declares in 1 Corinthians 3:9 that he gained his knowledge of the gospel through the “grace of God.”  He was the pioneer to the Gentiles in spreading the gospel – he laid the foundation through the grace of God working through him.  The Bible teaches us that as others learn and continue the spreading of the gospel, it is very important that they understand that the foundation itself is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

This is the foundation of the gospel message in the Christian worldview.

As Christians, we are professing that we are Christ—one’s; ones who belong to Christ.  He is the foundation of our religious beliefs.  All that is taught in the gospel message should lead to Jesus.  Every Christian church should preach Jesus – He is the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father (God) except through Him (John 14:6).  The relationship of Jesus to God is God in human form.  God could not relinquish His position in heaven to come to earth to save us from sin, so He came in the likeness of men, and through His Almighty power conquered death by paying the price for it while remaining sinless as only He could do because of the sinfulness of man preventing man from redeeming himself to God.  Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV) states, “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.  And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  Jesus was obedient to paying the price for our sins; that is why we should be obedient to Him, and bow our knee with an open heart to receive His Holy Spirit, and profess Him our Lord and Savior.

Dear LORD,

Our lives are meant to bring glory to You; You created us to glorify You.  It does not matter how good we think we are or may be, it only matters that we put our faith in Jesus to cleanse us in Your eyes; that we would learn to be obedient to You and follow Your will for our lives.  We can only do this if we first believe in our hearts and profess with our mouth that Jesus is our Lord and Savior.  Please work through Your Holy Spirit in all of our lives to reach this point of salvation, new redeemed life, and obedience to You – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
