Matthew 24:15-22
In Matthew 24:3 (NKJV), the disciples of Jesus came to Him and ask Him, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” In Matthew 24:15 Jesus teaches of the “abomination of desolation” in reference to the prophecy of Daniel 11:31; 12:11. This is believed to be in reference to Antiochus Epiphanes III and his son Antiochus Epiphanes IV. It is also believed that this is foreshadowing a future king who will be even more evil than these (Revelation 13:1-7).
This is an example of the evils that will take place in the world before the end of time.
This earthly world is an evil place. It was created to be a place out of heaven for the dwelling of Lucifer, the fallen angel and his followers who were disobedient to God. Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28 teach us of this event. The battle is of Satan’s quest to prove that he is more powerful than Almighty God, and the purpose of man on earth is the free will for Satan to strive for as he tries to take from God what is His most precious creation – mankind. God will prevail as we learn from Revelation 19-22. The choice is through your free will to choose: will you choose to be victorious in Christ Jesus in His ultimate defeat of Satan, or will you allow Satan to block your sight of it for all eternity? Choose Christ Jesus today and live victorious!
Dear LORD,
We study and we learn of prophecies of the great battle Satan has waged against You for our eternal destination. Please help us to see that the blinding things of this world are temporary and are only to distract us from You. Please help us to see the blessings that You give us in putting our faith in Jesus, and the victory for eternity that we will be a part of – in Christ! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
