Matthew 15:32-39
In Matthew 15:32-39 is the event of Jesus feeding the four thousand (besides the women and children (Matthew 15:38). We may ask as to why this miracle, seemingly less significant than that of the miracle of Jesus feeding the five thousand (Matthew 14:13-21), but the answer is believed to be in the people involved in the miracle. As we have already studied the ministry of Jesus to be to the Jews (house of Israel) and to the Gentile communities, it is believed that this too is a bringing together all peoples to the realization and understanding of receiving forgiveness and salvation through Christ Jesus – One Savior for all people. The feeding of the five thousand is believed to be a miracle in the midst of a mostly Jewish multitude, while the feeding of the four thousand is believed to be a multitude of mostly Gentiles.
This is a promise of salvation to all people; Jew and Gentile alike.
The power of God is amazing unto salvation. God is Almighty powerful above all. There seems to be a question about whether God is exclusive to the Jews (the house of Israel), or if He sent His One and only Son to save the Jews and the Gentiles alike. If Jesus is able only to save the Jews, then the power of God unto salvation would be limited. We should never try to limit the power of God and of His great love for us all. Jesus came to save that which was lost (Matthew 18:11), and that includes us all. Open your heart to Jesus today and find true love, peace, and joy – it can be found in no other than Jesus, for all who will believe.
Dear LORD,
As we study Your Word, we find many treasures. As we find these treasures, You enable us to have the realization and understanding of Your great plan of salvation for everyone, everywhere. Thank You so much for the gift of salvation in Your One and only Son Jesus – the Savior of the world (John 3:16-17). In Jesus name I pray, amen.
