Matthew 11:27

Jesus makes a bold statement in Matthew 11:27; He declares, “All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father.  Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him” (NKJV).  This sense of knowing is not simply as to know something, but a more intimate sense of the word that indicates a thorough understanding.  This statement is supported in Matthew 28:18 as an introduction to the Great Commission as Matthew states, “Then Jesus came to them and said, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’”  Jesus has stated in Matthew 5:17 (ESV), “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”  Jesus proclaims in John 14:6 (HCSB), “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  In John 15:5 (NKJV) Jesus declares, “I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”  Jesus teaches us in John 14:15-18 (NIV), “If you love me, keep my commands.  And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth.  The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.  But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.”

This is a promise that Jesus is the way to our Father God in heaven.

Jesus spent His entire earthly ministry teaching, healing, and leading lost souls to God.  Everything that He did was to show that He is the way to God, the truth of God, and the life that God offers us.  Over and over Jesus teaches us that He was sent by God to save us from sin.  But regardless of how many times, and in all the different ways in which Jesus laid His life out to show us the great love of God that saves lost souls from sin, if we are not listening, we will remain lost, and the life of peace, joy, and love that God has for us will be lost.  Jesus exclaimed in Matthew 11:15 (NKJV), “He who has ears to hear, let him hear!

Dear LORD,

We have a problem hearing you because we are so busy with the cares of this world that we fail to take the time to concentrate on studying Your Word with the intent to hear what You are saying to us.  We promise to take the time to hear You speak to us as we put aside a time to share our lives with You and open our hearts to You and seek Your guidance for us.  Please forgive us for allowing the devil to distract us from You.  We know that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.  We know that Jesus is the only way to You.  We open our hearts to Jesus and we open our lives to You and Your will for our lives.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
