Matthew 11:11

In Matthew 11:11, Jesus proclaims that no one on this earth (born of women/physically born) is greater than John the Baptist, as he is the one who came to announce the coming of Jesus, the Messiah, Christ.  Jesus also states that anyone who is “in” the kingdom of heaven is greater than John the Baptist.  “Anyone” in the kingdom of heaven is greater than the greatest person who lived on earth.

This is a promise of spiritual life in heaven being greater than physical life on earth.

The point Jesus is trying to make is that being accepted into heaven by God the Father is the goal – the accomplishment – the reward for living a life (earthly) that is obedient to the will of the Father.  The task with the work and the trials and the tribulations is earthly, and the only way to navigate the physical life successfully is to open our hearts to Jesus and accept the gift that God offers us through Him while we have the time to do so while living on earth.  In opening our hearts to Jesus, God will open the doors of heaven to us – for eternity!

Dear LORD,

We all want to live the best life we can on this earth.  But please help us to see – open our eyes to the fact that we can only reach the goal of spiritual life in heaven for eternity through Christ Jesus as He declares in John 14:6 (NKJV), “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  Please let it be so LORD.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
