Romans 9:22-29
The Apostle Paul emphasizes the inclusion of all people (Jews and Gentiles) in God’s great plan of salvation for all of humanity and of God’s ultimate will to make whom He will as He wills by asking us another question, “What if” as he begins Romans 9:22 (NKJV). Paul quotes Old Testament Scripture from the Prophets Hosea and Isaiah in support of his teaching. Paul teaches us in Romans 9:22b that God can make, “vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,” and in Romans 9:23a, “and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy,”. Paul then ties this all together for all of humanity in Romans 9:24 as he declares, “even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?”
This is a promise that God will create everyone (both Jews and Gentiles) in the fashion that He has predetermined for us in His will.
The Apostle Paul is going to extreme lengths in his letter to the Church at Rome in making sure that we all understand that we are all in God’s great plan of salvation through putting our faith in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Not just Jews; not just Gentiles, but all people are made to God’s will for us and in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). You too are created in God’s image – just as He has perfectly (in His will for you) created you – with a purpose that only can be found in Christ Jesus by putting your faith in Him and seeking His will for your life. If you have not done so, I encourage you to open your heart to Jesus today and declare Him Lord and Savior as the Apostle Paul instructs us in Romans 10:9-10, “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Dear LORD,
You are our Creator God Almighty. You have created each of us in Your image and to the unique specifications that You have predetermined for us before we were ever born. Please help us to put our faith in You through salvation in Your one and only Son Jesus that we would open our hearts to Your will for our lives as only You can reveal to us that we would be to the praise of Your glory. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
