Romans 8:5

The Apostle Paul describes the difference between one who lives for the ways of this world, and one who lives for Christ Jesus.  Paul tells us in Romans 8:5 that if those who are living in the ways of this world according to the sinful nature that is pulling at us all trying to keep us/pull us away from Jesus, then they, “set their minds on the things of the flesh,”.  But the difference between the ways of this world being those who set their minds on doing the things that are reflective of the sinful nature, and those who live according to the guidance that God provides for us through His Holy Spirit is that those who have put their faith in Christ Jesus will display a new mindset apart from that of the sinful nature; those who have put their faith in Christ Jesus will have a mindset to do things and live a  life that is reflective of Jesus through the guidance of His Holy Spirit that God sends to live within all who put their faith in Him.

This is a promise of the freedom in Christ Jesus through our faith in Him in fulfilling the righteous requirement of the Law (Romans 8:4).

When we put our faith in Jesus we are proclaiming that He has opened our eyes to the sinful ways of this world and that we see – in Christ – a new way which is reflective of Him; a way of life that He teaches us through His Word and through His Holy Spirit whom He sends to live within all who will put their faith in Him (John 14:15-18, 26-27).  When we open our hearts to Jesus and the forgiveness that only He can provide, we are saying that we no longer desire to live in the ways of this world but that we see a new way of life in the freedom from the ways of this world and into God’s glory for eternity – in Christ.

You too can declare your faith in Jesus today and be saved from the sinful ways of this world through a simple prayer, that if said with a sincere heart will lead to forgiveness in Christ Jesus and the salvation that only He can provide.  If this is you, please follow along with me as I lead you in this prayer:

Dear Jesus,

I have sins that I need You to forgive.

I believe that You died to pay the price for my sins.

I believe that you have risen from the grave in victory over sin, death, and Satan.

I ask You to come into my heart today, right now, and save me into a new life of forgiveness.

I profess You Jesus, my Savior, and I promise to strive from this day forward to put You first in my life.

Thank You Jesus.

In Jesus name I pray, amen.

If you prayed this prayer with me from the sincerity of your heart for the first time today, I encourage you to attend a Bible teaching church which now can be found on line for those who do not feel comfortable with the ongoing covid situation.  Reach out to the church and let them know that you have put your faith in Jesus, and I encourage you to also be baptized as this is a public declaration of your faith in Jesus as your Savior; He died publicly for us, we should also publicly declare our faith in Him.
