Romans 8:3-4

The weakness of sinful man is not able to accomplish the righteous requirement of the law.  This is not to fault the law, but to show man his inabilities and the need for grace.  What man could not do, God did by sending His One and only Son to be the perfection that is required by the law to be fulfilled.  The gift of God through grace is to accomplish for man what man could not do alone.

To help us understand the gift of God in Christ Jesus we must first understand that Jesus lived a sinless life, and in so we must derive that had He not been killed/crucified, He would have lived forever in His physical body and would still be alive today, physically.  But if this would have happened, His sinless life would have only been for Him.  Romans 6:23 (NKJV) states, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

When Jesus was crucified, sinless, He died a death that was not possible to die as He was sinless.  As Jesus went to the depths/hell, He was accused of the worst of the worst sins of mankind.  As sin, death, and Satan made their attempt to destroy God, God went to sin, death, and Satan in their world, on their terms, where there would be no excuses to combat the truth in that God destroyed their power over humanity by the purity of Jesus as He arose from the grave victorious over them forevermore; “in order that the law’s requirement would be accomplished in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit” as we are taught by the Apostle Paul in Romans 8:4 (HCSB).

This is a promise of the law being fulfilled by and through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

When we open our hearts to Jesus and put our faith in Him, we are proclaiming that we no longer seek to live according to the ways of this world, but that we believe in the ways of the Lord and desire to live as He teaches us in His Word – the Bible.  To do this, we must learn what God teaches us through His Word.  This means that we must open our Bibles and read them; we must study the guidebook to life that the Bible is for all who will put our faith in Jesus as the Savior of the world (John 3:16-17).  But more than just reading the Bible in believing in the truths that are found in it, we must apply these lessons in our lives in our obedience to God through our faith in our Savior, Christ Jesus.  For He is faithful to save all who will put their faith in Him (John 1:12-13; Romans 10:9-13).

Dear LORD,

You have fulfilled the righteous requirement of the Law through the One You sent to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17).  Please fill us with confidence in our Savior Jesus to guide us through this world and into eternity with You in Your glory – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
