Romans 6:12-14

We have received reconciliation from sin through Christ Jesus (Romans 5:11).  We have been justified by His blood and saved from wrath through Him (Romans 5:9).  This is accomplished, “through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe” (Romans 3:22b).

“Therefore” (Romans 6:12, NKJV) we should no longer obey the sinful desires that Satan tempts us with, but present ourselves to God as being alive from the death that is a result of sin, and be, “instruments of righteousness to God (Romans 6:13c).  For the Law has been fulfilled through Jesus and we no longer are living and striving to fulfill the Law, but are living in God’s grace that He offers to us through Jesus’ fulfilling of the Law as we now strive to be, “alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:1-11).

This is freedom from sin in Christ Jesus.

This is a new life in Christ Jesus.

This is being justified through faith in Christ Jesus.

This is the difference in our physical lives that separates Christians from those of the secular world that continue living in the sinful nature; a Christian no longer seeks to live according to the sinful nature that is at work in us, but strives to live as Jesus has taught us during His earthly ministry.  Once we open our hearts to Jesus and invite Him into our hearts to forgive us of our sins, we are a changed person and forever more are living – in Christ.  Our lives should be a reflection of Jesus!

Dear LORD,

Thank You for forgiving our sins and setting us free from them through our Savior Jesus.  Please help us to see that we no longer are to live in a willingly sinful way, but that through Jesus we are now able to live in the righteousness of Jesus – the free gift of love that You have given to all who will put their faith in You.  Praise be to Jesus our Lord and Savior and all glory be to You Almighty God!  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
