Hebrews 1:10-12

In a continuance from Hebrews 1:8-9 the author tells of the things in which God has spoken, “to the Son” (Hebrews 1:8) by quoting Psalm 102:25-27.  This Psalm gives praise to God for laying the foundations of the earth and the heavens.  It tells that this world will fade away, but God will remain in Himself the same for always.

The author of Hebrews quotes this Psalm in direct view of Jesus, as God, in being above the angels.  This thought is echoed in Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) proclaiming, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.”

This is a promise that Almighty God and Jesus are One, remaining the same for all eternity.

The author of Hebrews ties Old Testament Scriptures about God to the New Testament showing how God and Jesus are One in the same and both are above the angels.  Jesus is proclaimed as the living Word in John 1 and given equal credit for the creation of the heavens and the earth as is attributed to God in Genesis 1.  It is important that we understand that God and Jesus are One in the same along with His Holy Spirit.  This ties together the physical to the spiritual and makes eternal life possible for all who will believe in Him (John 1:12-13, 3:16, 20:31; Romans 10:9-13; Galatians 3:22).

Dear LORD,

As we study Your Word we seek to gain an understanding of Your great plan of salvation for all humanity; that we would learn and grow in our relationship with You through salvation in Jesus and gain the ability to share and explain Your great love, that You have allowed us to realize, with others, that we all may experience true life in Christ Jesus and be to the praise of Your glory.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
