2 Peter 3:10

Peter tells us in 2 Peter 3:10 (NKJV), “the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night,” in which the heavens and the earth will be burned up (laid bare).  Jesus tells of these things in Matthew 24:43-44 and in other parables about being prepared as we do not know when He will return.  The scoffers may have doubt in God’s word and the timing of His coming, but that day will come.

This is a promise of the coming of the Lord as a thief in the night.

We are given this time on earth to learn of Almighty God and His plan for our lives.  Throughout the steps is hearing of Him, learning about Him and His ultimate plan of salvation for all of humanity; the love that He has for each one of us in sending His one and only Son to pay our penalty for sin to redeem us back to Him, and how we each can receive forgiveness and eternal life through our faith in Him and the salvation He provides for each one who will believe in Him with a sincere repentant heart.  But our time is short, and God will not force us to believe in Him: He will offer us a way out of the sinful nature, but it is up to us to believe and accept His great love for us – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

Your word tells us that as You are a patient God and not willing that anyone would be lost to sin for all eternity, our time to choose salvation in Christ Jesus whom You sent to save the world from sin is short, for we do not know when our lives here on earth will end.  Please help us to hear Your word, learn the message of salvation in Christ Jesus through studying Your word, and open our hearts to Jesus and accept the forgiveness that leads to life eternal in heaven with You – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
