2 Peter 1:3a

In this passage, Peter tells the believers that God has given them “all things” that pertain to life and godliness.  But just exactly what is “all things?”  Jesus tells us in John 15:4 (NKJV), “Abide in Me, and I in you.  As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.”

To start; to abide in Jesus is the prerequisite to “all things” that pertain to life and godliness.  Abiding in Jesus gives us nourishment.  Jesus tells us in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life.  He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.”  Jesus is the light that led us out of darkness and into life.  In John 8:12 Jesus proclaims, “I am the light of the world.  He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”  Jesus is the door to salvation.  Jesus tells us in John 10:9, “I am the door.  If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved,…” Jesus gave His life so that we may live.  In John 10:11 Jesus states, “I am the good shepherd.  The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”  As Jesus gave His life for ours, He gives everlasting life through His resurrection from the grave to all who believe in Him.  In John 11:25 Jesus proclaims, “I am the resurrection and the life.  He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.  And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die.”  Jesus is the way to God, the ultimate truth, and true life.  Jesus tells us in John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  Jesus is our cornerstone and strength.  In John 15:5 Jesus states, “I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

This is a promise that Jesus is “all things” that lead to life and godliness.

God created us through His divine power and gave each of us our individual traits and characteristics that make us who we are.  But without Jesus, we can do nothing to please God.  Jesus is our nourishment and the light that allows us to see God’s plan for our lives.  He is the door that leads to salvation, and the good shepherd that teaches us “all things.”  He died in our place to give us life through His resurrection.  He is the way, the truth, and the life.  He is the only way to God in heaven.  And Jesus is the eternal vine that feeds all the branches that are attached to Him.  Jesus is “all things” that lead to life and godliness.  Open your heart to Him today and begin a new life that will last for all eternity.

Dear LORD,

You have given us Your Word, the Bible, to show us that “all things” leads to Jesus and Jesus is “all things” that lead to life and godliness.  Please open our eyes to the light that gives life to all the world; the light of Jesus and salvation for all who will believe – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
