2 Timothy 4:9–13
While the Apostle Paul was in prison, his co-laborers in Christ looked after his needs. In this portion of his letter (nearing the end) he sends his request to Timothy along with an update for those who have been with him and have gone on to pursue their ministry duties.
This is an example of our need to care for one another in Christ.
The Christian Church has long been a refuge for those in need as was the teaching of our Savior Jesus. He teaches us of the need to care for others – even strangers – in Luke 10:25–37 as He teaches the story of the Good Samaritan. Jesus teaches us to love one another as He first loved us in John 13:34-35.
We all need help from time to time, and the Church should always be a place where we can all go when a crisis strikes. Within the walls of the Church are people with all talents from construction to finance to childcare, and everything in between. We are all the Church today and we all have a talent we can share to help others in need.
Dear LORD,
Please help us to realize and understand that we all experience a crisis from time to time and need a helping hand. Please help us all to realize and understand that we can turn to the Church for help in whatever means we are in need. And please help us all to realize and understand that we are all the Church today and we can reach out through the Church to help others who are in need. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
