2 Timothy 4:19–22
In 2 Timothy 4:19-22 is the Apostle Paul’s final remarks in this second letter to Timothy. He gives recognition to those who have been helpful to him in his ministry and encourages Timothy to utilize their friendship and dedication as well in his ministry.
Paul ends this letter with blessings from God as he states in 2 Timothy 4:22 (NKJV), “The Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.”
This is an example of working together in Christ to accomplish the mission of sharing the message of the gospel.
There is not much that truly fills the soul with blessings from God than the blessings we receive from others in recognition for our support for them in helping them accomplish their goals for Christ Jesus. Jesus declared in Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Jesus gave a new commandment to love one another as He has loved us (John 13:34), and He reiterates this in John 15:12 and John 15:17. Jesus intertwines the reward as well in John 14:15-18, 21, 23-24; 15:5-8, 9-10, 11-17. Jesus is the love of God manifest in human form; we are to follow His example and love one another – in Christ.
Dear LORD,
We can look through the Bible and see over and over Your great examples of Your love showing mercy, grace, and support for those in need. Please help us all to realize and understand that we are all in need of Your great love in our lives, and that it comes in a large part by the support we give and receive from one another. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
