2 Timothy 2:7

The Apostle Paul has been giving Timothy some of the more difficult teachings for being a true leader in the Church. To endure hardship as a soldier of Jesus Christ is the teaching, but in so is guidance from God through His Holy Spirit. Paul states in 2 Timothy 2:7 (NKJV), “Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.”

This is a command to consider the hardships of being a Christian.

This is a promise of the Lord’s guidance for all who will endure hardships for Jesus.

This is an example of the life of a dedicated Christian.

No one likes dealing with adversity or hardship, but it is a part of being a Christian as Jesus was persecuted and taught in John 15:18-20 that in following Him we will be persecuted as well. Jesus gives us warning of the difficulties that lie ahead, but He also gives us hope that He will be with us through it all and help us to be successful. Jesus encourages us to abide in Him to be successful as He declares in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” Open your heart to Jesus today and abide in Him.

Dear LORD,

Please help us to realize and understand that in dealing with hardships for our faith in You is guidance and understanding through Your Holy Spirit to help us through these tough times. Please give us understanding for considering the hardships we face – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
