2 Timothy 1:2

In 2 Timothy 1:1–2 is the full introduction of this letter from the Apostle Paul to Timothy. In 2 Timothy 1:1 is the acknowledgement of the author – Paul and his credentials in Christ Jesus. In 2 Timothy 1:2 (NKJV) is the blessing of the introduction as Paul states, “2To Timothy, a beloved son:

“Grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.” God’s grace is to give not because one is deserving to receive, but because God is willing to give. God’s mercy is to withhold due punishment even though one is deserving of it. God’s peace is from within – a heartfelt peace that only comes from God unto all who seek His will for their lives.

This is an example of a proper Christian introduction.

The Apostle Paul declared in Ephesians 2:8, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.” In Ephesians 2:4–5 Paul states, But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).

Jesus declared in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Dear LORD,

Grace, mercy, and peace; three things that we all need every day to help us overcome the ways of this world and live as You desire for us to be. Please bless everyone who reads these words with Your unfailing grace, loving mercy, and everlasting peace. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
