2 Timothy 1:15–18

In 2 Timothy 1:15–18 the Apostle Paul tells of those who turned away from him while he was suffering. He also gives thanksgiving and requests the Lord’s blessings on those who did help him while he was suffering. Paul explains how those who helped him went the extra mile to find him.

This is an example of being a reflection of Jesus when we reach out to help others in need.

Jesus explains the rewards He will give when He returns and separates the “sheep from the goats” (Matthew 25:32, NKJV). He declares in Matthew 25:34–36, 40, “Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me. . . And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.”

As we see someone in need, we should ask ourselves the question: If the LORD will reward me one day for reaching out to someone in need, should I not do it as if I am reaching out to help Jesus Himself?

Dear LORD,

There are many people all around us each day that are in need, and we too find ourselves in need. Please give us the mindset and heart to reach out to help others as Jesus reached out to help us and save us from sin. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
