2 Timothy 1:11

In 2 Timothy 1:11, as he refers to 2 Timothy 1:10, is the calling and mission of the Apostle Paul. The revelation of the good news of Jesus Christ in His overcoming death and giving life is the calling of Paul to the Gentiles. This, he states, “11to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles” (2 Timothy 1:11, NKJV).

Jesus declared in Acts 9:15, as He spoke through a vision to Ananias to help Paul/Saul, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.”

This is a promise of the calling of the Apostle Paul.

The Apostle Paul had a very specific and dramatic calling on his life from God/Jesus. God had a very special plan for Paul, and it was very important that He got Paul/Saul’s undivided attention so He could prepare him for the rest of his life to share the message of the gospel to the Gentiles.

We too, have all had very specific and dramatic callings on our lives from God/Jesus as He spoke to our hearts and led us to Himself. It is very important that God/Jesus gets our undivided attention so He can lead us in the plans He has for each and every one of us.

Dear LORD,

Please help us to realize and understand that the callings You have on all our lives are just as important as the calling You had on Saul/Paul’s life. We may not be assigned the initial revelation of the gospel message to the Gentiles, but we are the light of the world today as You work through Your Holy Spirit in our lives and lead the lost to You so that You may call them to a new life of salvation as well. Please help us all to realize and understand the importance of Your great plan of salvation for us so that we may bring glory to You through our lives – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
