2 Thessalonians 3:6

In 2 Thessalonians 3:6 (NKJV) the Apostle Paul has stated, “6But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.”

This is a command to remove ourselves from disorderly conduct as we strive to emulate Jesus in our own lives.

We must be aware that this command from the Apostle Paul is a command to remove ourselves from the sinful nature that is found in the old ways of man that are of this world and not reflective of Jesus. This does not give us the right to be condescending or judgmental of others, nor does it give us the right to remove ourselves from helping others who are in need. It is a command to remove ourselves from the conduct that we used to follow, and the groups of people that are harmful to our new way of life – that we would not participate in the old way that we did before we were saved by the grace of God shown to us in Christ Jesus.

We should, however, seek to show the same grace that God has shown to us to those who continue to walk in the ways that we have removed ourselves from as it is the way of Jesus to have compassion and a caring heart for those who have not been saved, that possibly our example to them would lead them to salvation in Christ Jesus.

Dear LORD,

Please help us to walk in newness of life as we walk with You through our salvation in Christ Jesus; and help us also to, as we remove ourselves from the sinful ways of this world, to remember those who are still in need of Jesus to save them also. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
