2 Thessalonians 3:3-4

Jesus declared in John 16:33 (NKJV), “These things I have spoken to you that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Jesus came to this world to save us from sin (John 3:16-17), and by putting our faith in Him, He gives us the guidance of His Holy Spirit (John 13:15-18, 26). We are free to choose our own path of life, but if we choose to follow Jesus and to put our faith in Him to save us from the sinful nature of this world, we are making a commitment to Him to obey His commands and make them the ways of our lives. The Apostle Paul declares in 2 Thessalonians 3:3, “3But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.” He also then gives a very important piece of knowledge in 2 Thessalonians 3:4 as he states, “4And we have confidence in the Lord concerning you, both that you do and will do the things we command you.” Our confidence of doing the right thing in obedience to the teachings of Jesus found in the Bible is not in ourselves but in Christ Jesus working through His Holy Spirit in our lives to lead us to victory. To God be the glory for the great things He hath done in my life and in yours.

This is a promise of being established in the Lord through our obedience to Him.

The rich young ruler in Luke 18:18-23 is a good example of God allowing us to make a choice to follow Him or not. The riches of the rich young ruler was not preventing him from inheriting eternal life, but his decision to have more faith in his riches than he did in Jesus. Jesus offered him eternal life but he declined the offer. Jesus declared to Nicodemus that one must be born again to see the kingdom of God (John 3:3-5), and He further explains it in John 3:6 declaring, “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” We all are familiar with physical birth for we all have been born into this world. But there is also a spiritual birth that is making a commitment to God and professing our faith in Him and believing that He came to this world to save us from sin by taking the form of a man and then dying to pay the price for sin through His sinless death which conquered sin, death, and Satan for all who will believe in Him. You have been experiencing the trials and tribulations that come through physical birth in this world; put your faith in Jesus today and begin experiencing a new life and a new birth into the spiritual world that will fill your heart with joy – In Christ!

Dear LORD,

The Apostle Paul has spoken of the confidence he has in You to guide us through this world as we put our faith in You. He knew that You will guide us through this world and into spiritual life forevermore. Please let it be true in all our lives – In Christ! In Jesus name I pray, amen.
