2 Thessalonians 3:1-2
As the Apostle Paul nears the end of his second letter to the church at Thessalonica, he reaches out to them for support in their prayers for him and his ministry team. He states in 2 Thessalonians 3:1-2 (NKJV), “1Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, 2and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith.”
This is a promise and example that we all need support in prayer from each other.
All through the ministry of the Apostle Paul is trial, tribulation, and persecution. The amazing thing is that God always saw him through these tough times. He is a perfect example for the Thessalonians, who were going through trying times themselves. It was Paul’s faith in God through his salvation in Christ Jesus that protected him. In Acts 9:23-25 there was a plot to kill Paul, but a way of escape was provided so he could fulfill God’s calling on his life.
We too face trials and persecution, but Jesus promised to help us through these trying times. One way to help is to keep each other in our prayers. This is one way to show our support for one another. God hears our prayers and desires to hear us praying for one another as we come together to be a reflection of Jesus in our lives. Let’s all pray for one another today and every day as we grow in our relationship with one another and in Christ Jesus.
Dear LORD,
The Apostle Paul asked those he taught to pray for him in humility for his reliance on You and knowing of the need to support one another in prayer. Please prompt us throughout the day to pray for one another in Christ as we all seek to draw closer to You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
