2 Peter 1:2

In coming to know of our Creator God and heavenly Father, and of His only begotten Son – the Savior of the world – Jesus Christ, will result in an abundance of grace and peace upon those who believe and, in the words of the Apostle Peter, “have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Peter 1:1b).  To receive grace is to receive something (a gift) that is not deserved/you did nothing to earn or warrant receiving the gift – it was free; that is the nature of a gift, and that is the nature of grace; it is totally from the love, caring kindness, and compassion of the giver, in this case from God our Father in heaven and His one and only Son, our Savior, Jesus.

Peace, in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord is as Jesus states to His disciples in John 14:26-27, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.  Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.  Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”  To grow in the knowledge of the Lord is to receive His Holy Spirit by believing, confessing our sin to Him, and receiving forgiveness and His Holy Spirit as the seal of our salvation.  The Apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 4:30, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.”  This is why we must be a believer for the instruction and guidance of the Bible to pertain to us, because God’s Holy Spirit helps us understand the things of the Bible that will only be revealed to us if we believe in Him, and God only sends His Holy Spirit to dwell within those who put their faith in Him through salvation in His Son Jesus whom He sent to save the world from sin (John 3:16-17).  The Apostle Peter, in 2 Peter 1:2 is requesting Gods grace and peace in abundance to all who believe.

This is a blessing of grace and peace for all who believe in God and His only begotten Son Jesus.

We all want grace and peace to be multiplied in our lives.  We may all seek grace and peace in different ways, but we are all on a quest for them.  God made us all with a common desire to seek inner peace – you know, the inner feeling in our hearts that makes us feel complete and whole.  But because God is love (1 John 4:8, 16) and love must be given as does grace, expecting nothing in return, but hoping and longing to receive love back from the one it is given to, God does not give us the answer to the longing desire of where to find what makes our hearts complete and whole – we must seek this out for ourselves – He allows us to make our own choices for our lives.  But God has given us the answer to this question and search of our lives – it is found in His Word, but by hearing of it and reading it, we still have to believe it and apply what we learn from His Word in our lives.  When we begin to believe that God’s Word is our guidebook to life (which it is) then the quest for inner peace and a whole heart begins to unfold in our lives, and through our believing in Him, His blessings of grace and peace will begin to be experienced in our lives – in Christ.

Dear LORD,

Grace and peace; blessings given to those who believe in You and Your Son Jesus.  May it be so for us all.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
