2 Corinthians 6:3-10

In 2 Corinthians 6:3-4a the Apostle Paul assures his readers of the confidence in the ministry that he and his ministry team have been given through their salvation and calling from God, and then he continues in 2 Corinthians 6:4b-10 to give a list of attributes that define the lives they have lived as representatives of Christ Jesus.  2 Corinthians 6:4b-5 is a list of persecutions that they have faced; 2 Corinthians 6:6-7 is a list of blessings given from God; and 2 Corinthians 6:8-10 is a list of paradoxes in that through the trial or tribulation has come blessing and rejoicing.

This is a promise of the trials and tribulations that one may experience – in Christ.

This is a promise of the blessings and rejoicings that one will have – in Christ.

This lesson in itself may seem a paradox, but the truth is that we will suffer trials, tribulations, and persecutions in this world; but in Christ Jesus as we seek God’s will for our lives and follow it as He reveals it to us, we will receive rewards, even in this world, of blessings and rejoicings in our hearts, souls, and minds that are not experienced by non-believers.  Jesus was persecuted for taking our sins to the cross; we too will be persecuted by the ways of this world (John 15:18-25).  Trust Jesus as your Savior and you too will experience His joy in your life through the trials and tribulations that this world will throw at you.

Dear LORD,

All people experience trials, tribulations, and sufferings in this world as is a prelude to eternity of suffering that is to come for all who refuse to believe in You; but those who open their hearts to You – to believe in You and seek Your will for our lives and follow it as You reveal it to us will experience a joy and peace that is a prelude to eternity in heaven.  Please open our eyes, hearts, minds, and souls to receive eternal life through Jesus our Savior and be children of God in this world as we are sure to receive rewards of blessings and rejoicing – in Christ!  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
