2 Corinthians 6:1-2

The Apostle Paul has been teaching the congregation of the church at Corinth throughout 1 Corinthians and the beginning of 2 Corinthians what it means to be a Christian and of having a proper attitude – in Christ – as being a Christian is being a representative and reflection of Jesus Christ.  He has reached a pinnacle unto salvation in his letters to the Corinthians as he has stated in 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 (NKJV), “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.  For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.”  He has explained himself and his ministry team as “ambassadors for Christ” as “God pleads through them” and they “implore” the Corinthians and plead together with God that the grace of God would not be received in vain (2 Corinthians 6:1).  He quotes the words of God from Isaiah 49:8 declaring, “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”  He then declares, “Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

This is the promise of salvation in Christ Jesus.

This is the promise that the acceptable time to give your life to Christ is today.

To receive/be offered grace is to be given a gift that the receiver of the gift does not deserve.  It is the gift of eternal life that God is offering to all who will believe in Him.  To all who refuse the gift of God’s grace will come to know what it means to fear the LORD for their disobedience to Him, but to all who will open their hearts and invite God’s Holy Spirit to live within them through believing and professing Jesus to be their Savior, their risen Lord – will receive the gift of God’s grace.  The Bible teaches us in Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  Open your heart to Jesus today as today is the acceptable day of salvation!

Dear LORD,

Today we invite anyone who wishes to be saved and receive Your grace to pray with an open and sincere heart with me as I lead in this prayer of salvation.  Dear LORD, I open my heart and my life to You today, right now, and ask Your forgiveness for my sins.  I ask You to come into my heart and into my life; fill me with Your Holy Spirit and make me a new person – in Christ Jesus – my Savior whom You sent to pay for my sins – who died and was raised from the grave so that I may be set free from my sins and become a child of God.  I vow to seek Your will for my life from this day forward.  Thank You God for saving me.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
