2 Corinthians 3:1-3

It is believed that some false teachers in Corinth had forged letters of commendation from the church at Jerusalem in an attempt to challenge the teachings of the Apostle Paul.  With this in mind, Paul reassures the congregation of the church at Corinth of their real transformation in Christ Jesus that is not written on paper but on their hearts – the proof as indwelled by God’s Holy Spirit working in their lives.

This is a promise of the truth of the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, as it is experienced in the heart of the believer.

The teachings of the Apostle Paul continue to be questioned today, along with the teachings of Peter, John, and the other Holy Spirit inspired authors of the Bible.  But to those who are saved in Christ Jesus, the truth of the gospel is felt in their hearts and experienced in their lives – in Christ.  Jesus declared in John 14:6 (NKJV), “I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.”  And in John 3:16-17 Jesus declares, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”  This is the gospel – this is the truth – In Christ!

Dear LORD,

We know that You are real; we know that the message of the gospel is everlasting life in and through Christ Jesus the Savior of the world.  Please help us to share this with the world.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
