2 Corinthians 13:7-10

As the Apostle Paul draws near the end of this letter to the church at Corinth, he expresses his desire for the congregation to draw near to God (2 Corinthians 13:7-10).  He is not concerned so much with their thoughts about him and his ministry team as he is with their growth in their relationships with God through their salvation in Christ Jesus.  This is reflective of Paul’s words in Colossians 1:27-29 (NKJV), “To them God willed to make known what are the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles: which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.  Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.  To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.”

This is an example of caring for the needs of our Christian brothers and sisters.

Jesus gives us a new commandment in John 13:34-35 declaring, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  Jesus was sent by God, as God in human form while yet not diminishing in His deity.  This is one of the wonders of the greatness and omnipotence of God that for many is hard to grasp.  But Jesus was not sent simply to be the propitiation for our sins (1 John 4:10), but that He would be the example for us to follow of how we should live our lives in the eyes of God.  The Apostle Paul was not so concerned about what the congregation of the church at Corinth thought of him, but that they realized and understood this message – the message of the gospel.  I too, hope and pray that you realize and understand this message of the gospel as well.

Dear LORD,

As a messenger of Your Word, it is my hope and prayer that You will open the eyes, ears, and hearts of all who read or listen to this message so that Your Holy Spirit may work in all our lives to bring salvation to everyone everywhere – in Christ.  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
