2 Corinthians 1:1-2

As we begin our study of Paul’s second epistle to the church at Corinth, I could not help but feel comforted by the greeting which Paul gives in this introduction.  Paul identifies himself, along with Timothy, and sends God’s grace to all the saints of the church and those throughout the land.  But it is not only God’s grace that Paul sends in his greeting, but “peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 1:2, NKJV).

This is an example of a heart-felt greeting in the name of “God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 1:2).

“Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 1:2).  If those words are not comforting, I don’t know what is.  This is such a great greeting, and it touches me to say and ponder this greeting.  It is a magnificent way to introduce yourself to someone as a Christian.  It may seem out of place in the way we speak today, but so is being a Christian in the ways of this world.  That is a sad statement, but we, as Christians, are out of place in this world.  But it is our duty as Christians to let the grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ shine through our lives as living testimonies to the grace and peace that God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ has shown to us.

Dear LORD,

I pray today that You will fill each of us with Your Holy Spirit as You have done to me today in the grace and peace that You give us in Christ Jesus.  Please help us to be living testimonies of Your great love for us that we would lead others to You in hopes that they too will open their hearts to Your great love for them – In Christ!  In Jesus name I pray, amen.
