1 Timothy 5:24–25

The Apostle Paul makes a pretty clear statement in 1 Timothy 5:24 (NKJV) as he states, “24Some men’s sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later.” Some people’s sins are clearly seen as they live in an open lifestyle of the ways of this world with no regard for our heavenly Father nor His will for their lives. Some others, however, live lives that may have hidden sins that are not clearly seen by the public eye. In either case, all sin leads to the same judgment. Without declaring Christ Jesus your Savior, your sins will never be forgiven, which leads to everlasting condemnation.

Jesus declared in John 3:18-19 as He spoke of His purpose in which God sent Him into this world, “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” The point is that sin is sin, and even though one might hide their sinful life from the public eye, sin cannot be hidden from God who knows all things. Psalm 44:21 declares, “Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.” The Bible teaches us in Daniel 2:22a, “He reveals deep and secret things;”. The Prophet Nahum declares, “The LORD is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him” (Nahum 1:7).

The Apostle Paul counters the sinful acts in one’s life in 1 Timothy 5:25 as he declares, “25Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden.” Many people are noticed by their good works that are clearly seen by the public. Others, however, may be doing good works that are not so clearly seen by the actions and words of their daily life. A helping hand, a kind word, and the unseen set up that enables another person to succeed are all more subtle things that are, as the Apostle Paul says, “25Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden” (1 Timothy 5:25). Likewise, these good works, seen or unseen, are all seen by God and He will reward each according to his/her own. The words found in Revelation 20:12–13 declare, “And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books.”

The LORD God Almighty sees our sins and He sees our good deeds. For us, it is to rid ourselves of the time spent committing sin and grow in doing good deeds. This transformation of one’s life can only be attained by opening your heart to Jesus and inviting His Holy Spirit to fill your heart and guide your mind to living a life that is new, a new life that is only found in Christ.

Dear LORD,

As Your Word teaches us in Revelation 20:12–13 we will be judged after we are dead – after we die physically and then enter into Your world of heaven in spirit. It will be too late then to repent and change our lives unto salvation anew in Christ Jesus. Please help us all to see, to realize, and to understand the importance of choosing Jesus now, while we are still alive physically, because the day will come, after we die physically, when we will all stand before You in spirit and see the truth in Christ Jesus. Please help us to do our works – to live our lives, in Christ, as we profess Him our Savior and seek and follow Your will for our new lives – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
