1 Timothy 1:1-2

In 1 Timothy 1:1-2 is the greeting of this letter from the Apostle Paul to his young pupil in Christ, Timothy. This is a letter of encouragement, instruction, and strength to Timothy for his growth and preparation as a pastor/minister of the faith of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as he prepares and initiates his calling from God on his life to follow God’s will for his life.

This is an example of encouraging support for leading new Christians in their callings from God through salvation in Christ Jesus.

“Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord” (1 Timothy 1:2, NKJV) as Paul blesses Timothy with these words. Grace is to receive a gift that is not warranted by the receiver of it; which means to receive a gift that was not deserved, but is from 100 percent the love of the giver of the gift – that’s grace. Mercy is to not receive punishment that is deserving, but instead, forgiveness is given which is also 100 percent from the love of the giver. Peace is contentment in one’s inner soul that is felt within one’s heart. True peace comes only from God through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit given for everyone who puts their faith in Jesus as their Savior. This peace is a peace that only a Christian can experience as it is the result of salvation in and through Christ Jesus. To combine the three; grace, mercy, and peace is only possible through the love of God. God loves you and sent His One and only Son to pay for your sins so that you may experience true peace, grace, and mercy that are rooted in redemption from sin. Put your faith in Jesus today and you too will receive true grace, mercy, and peace – in Christ!

Dear LORD,

Jesus said to the Apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). It is our weaknesses that are the requirement for Your grace to operate; it is our weaknesses that allow you to show us how wonderful Your great love for us really is; it is our weaknesses that allow us to realize our need for You and the grace You give us in the gift of Jesus dying sinlessly to pay for our sins. This is such a simple concept that we teach it to the preschoolers in Sunday School; it is a song titled — Jesus Loves Me. Let it be a song in all our hearts LORD. When we are weak, You are strong. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
