1 Thessalonians 5:28
As is the words of the instructions from the Apostle Paul in his first letter to the church at Thessalonica, so goes his ending comment, “28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen” (1 Thessalonians 5:28, NKJV).
This is a promise of God’s grace to all who will put their faith in Jesus and follow Him.
To have the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ to be with us is to receive a gift or reward for something in which we ourselves have done nothing to deserve nor are worthy of receiving. This is how the grace of God works in our lives; it is by nothing that we have done to be deserving of God to give us a gift or reward because as we are all sinful by nature, God’s grace is pure and holy. This is the gift of Christ Jesus paying for all our sins. He did it, we did not. He took our eternal pain and suffering for sin and paid the price for it in death, we did not. He extends His grace to us in His great love and compassion for us, that if we will believe in Him – to believe that He has done these things for us to save us from His eternal wrath on this sinful world, then He will save us from it. It is nothing that we did or will ever do, but something that God has done to save us from the wiles of the devil which, if we continue willfully living in while living in this world, we will not receive the gift of God’s love and grace to us in the spiritual world which lasts forever. The choice is ours to make: continue living in sin which leads to condemnation or to put our faith in God through professing Jesus our Savior and begin seeking His will for our lives (John 3:16-21; Romans 10:9-10). Choose Jesus today and receive the gift of God’s grace in your life.
Dear LORD,
For all who will come to You with open hearts, minds, and souls, we ask as did the Apostle Paul, “28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen” (1 Thessalonians 5:28). In Jesus name I pray, amen.
