1 Thessalonians 5:27

In 1 Thessalonians 5:27 (NKJV) the Apostle Paul declares, “27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.”

We learn about Saul/Paul at the stoning of Stephen in Acts 7:57-8:3, and in Acts 9 we learn of Saul’s conversion/salvation in Christ Jesus. During this time, Saul/Paul spent three days in a house, alone, blinded, receiving instructions through visions from God’s Holy Spirit (Acts 9:9, 9:12). This is the knowledge that Saul/Paul, as he is referred to further from Acts 13:9, has been instructing the Thessalonians and is found in all his writings which are all inspired by God’s Holy Spirit working in his life. This is such important information that Paul has shared in this letter to the Thessalonians that it is his desire to share it with everyone (1 Thessalonians 5:27).

This is an example of the importance for the gospel to be shared with everyone.

We all need to hear the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of heaven. Jesus is recorded in all the gospel accounts of giving this instruction. In Matthew 28:18-20, the Bible teaches us, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’ Amen.”

Dear LORD,

We thank You today for Your word – the gospel – the good news of Jesus Christ and the kingdom of heaven. We ask for Your strength through Your Holy Spirit working in our lives to present us with opportunities to share the gospel with all those around us and throughout the world. It is through Christ Jesus that gives us strength, and it is in the name of Jesus we ask it and pray, amen.
