1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

The blessing that the Apostle Paul gives the Thessalonians in 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 is the desired outcome for all who believe on the Lord Jesus: to be sanctified and have our bodies preserved blameless through the saving power of Jesus at His return. Jesus teaches us in John 5:24-30 (NKJV), “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the son of Man. Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth – those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation. I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.”

This is a promise of sanctification in Christ Jesus as, “24He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it(1 Thessalonians 5:24).

This is our struggle in this earthly world: to believe on the Lord Jesus and submit our lives to Him through faith of being sanctified in His purity and granted life eternal. To be resurrected to eternal life or to eternal condemnation. We all have heard of the Bible verse John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” But few go on to study the next few verses which are so important in understanding the difference between everlasting life and everlasting condemnation. Jesus teaches in John 3:17-19, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” Jesus declares in John 8:12, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” Begin following Jesus today and you too shall have the light of life unto salvation, sanctification, and resurrection to life eternal.

Dear LORD,

We come to You today for clarity; clarity to know the difference between walking in darkness or walking in the light. You have sent Jesus to be the light of the world, please help us to believe in Him, profess Him our Savior and be saved, purified, sanctified, and preserved for the resurrection to life eternal – In Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
