1 Thessalonians 4:3-8

In 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 the Apostle Paul explains the guidelines for walking in the ways of the Lord, as he has described in 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2, but now he adds direction for sexual conduct. He instructs that this is the will of God for the Christian (1 Thessalonians 4:3), and then explains the process of becoming sanctified and that it is not of passion of lust but in honoring God and His Holy Spirit who lives within us (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8).

This is a command to honor God through our holiness in our whole lives unto sanctification.

The Apostle Paul teaches us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 (NKJV), “Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

Dear LORD,

When we proclaim Jesus our Savior, we are given Your Holy Spirit to live within us and be our guide to sanctification (John 14:15-18, 26).  Please help us to know that You live within us through Your Holy Spirit, and the conduct of our bodies, even our minds, is subject to You and should be governed in our obedience to You. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
