1 Thessalonians 3:6-8
Once the report from Timothy came back to Paul and Silvanus concerning the faithful condition of the Christians at Thessalonica, and their desire to see each other once again, the worry of Paul and his ministry team for those newly found Christians was put to rest. The Apostle Paul declared in 1 Thessalonians 3:8 (NKJV), “8For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.”
This is an example of the encouragement given from Christian to Christian in one’s faithfulness and dedication to their salvation in Christ Jesus.
It is encouraging for the more seasoned Christians to lead and guide the newly found Christians in their early walk with Jesus as it is an important part of fighting off the attacks of Satan and developing a proper walk with God through their newly found salvation in Christ Jesus. It is equally important for the newly found Christian to express their excitement and joy in Christ Jesus to the seasoned Christian as this is the joy of the seasoned Christian in leading others to Christ and working to the benefit of each other.
The Apostle Paul emphasizes this in Philippians 4:1 as he encourages the Christians as Philippi to “be of the same mind in the Lord.” And in 1 Corinthians 1:3-7 Paul notes that all comforting comes from God above and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and it is through Him that we share our sufferings with one another that our hope be steadfast because as we all are partakers in suffering, we all are also partakers in consolation.
Dear LORD,
Please help us to realize and understand that we all suffer and we all need comforting from each other in Christ Jesus, so that we may console one another and hold on to the hope that comes through the consolation and the healing power of Your Holy Spirit that works through each of our lives to the support of one another – in Christ. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
