1 Thessalonians 1:3a

In 1 Thessalonians 1:3a, as the Apostle Paul prays for the congregation of the church at Thessalonica, he prays, “3remembering without ceasing your work of faith,” (1 Thessalonians 1:3a, NKJV). He gives thanks to God for them always (1 Thessalonians 1:2) and adds that he, without ceasing, in that he always continues to remember in his prayers for them, their work of faith (1 Thessalonians 1:3a).

Paul describes faith as being a shield by “which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:16). This is a profound statement made by the apostle as he did not say “some” of the fiery darts of the wicked one, but “all” of the fiery darts of the wicked one.

This is an example of utilizing the work of faith in one’s life.

The Bible teaches us in Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Paul did not commend the Thessalonians for their “works of faith” but their “work of faith”, not pertaining to something that someone does to earn faith, but the work of the essence of faith in someone’s life through believing in the One in which faith comes from – Jesus, as a gift and reward to us in this life for believing in the One and only Son of God unto saving us from sin. Let faith work in your life and believe in Jesus; He will shield you from the fiery darts of the evil one.

Dear LORD,

The devil shoots his fiery darts at us every day in his attempt to make us fall away from You. He shoots his fiery darts at those who are down and depressed to keep them from realizing that You are there waiting for them to call on the name of Jesus to save them. Please open our eyes, hearts, and minds to the saving power of putting our faith in Jesus and allowing the shield of faith to protect us from the devil forevermore. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
